Bail Bonds Service in Cedar Hill, TX

A Way Out Bail Bonds serves families in Cedar Hill, Texas, where a weekend at Joe Pool Lake or Cedar Hill State Park can turn into a phone call from the Tri-City Regional Jail. Cedar Hill police do not run their own jail; people arrested in the city are booked at the Tri-City Jail, 714 E. Belt Line Rd. in DeSoto, a facility shared with DeSoto, Lancaster and Duncanville, and their bonds are filed with Dallas County. We write felony, misdemeanor, DWI, warrant and traffic bonds for Cedar Hill arrests under Dallas County Bail Bond License #285, with bonds underwritten by United States Fire Insurance Company. More than 35 years of Dallas and Tarrant County bail bond work, a live answer 24 hours a day, bilingual agents and payment plans with no credit check mean the release can begin as soon as you dial 214-760-9978, our Dallas County line. About Bail Bonds in Cedar Hill, TX

Cedar Hill is the largest of the four Best Southwest cities and the one with the most outdoor recreation, which gives its arrest patterns a character of their own. The 2020 census recorded 49,148 residents across about 35.9 square miles, roughly 16 miles southwest of downtown Dallas. Nearly the entire city lies in Dallas County, with a small southern portion crossing into Ellis County. US-67 runs the length of the city and connects it to Duncanville, Dallas and, to the south, Midlothian. FM 1382 leads west to Cedar Hill State Park, an 1,826-acre park on the eastern shore of Joe Pool Lake, a 6,469-acre reservoir that draws boaters, campers and anglers from across the region every warm weekend. Hillside Village, the open-air shopping center formerly called Uptown Village, anchors the retail district along US-67 at Pleasant Run Road.

The lake and the highway define the calls we take. Boating while intoxicated and DWI arrests rise from spring through early fall as traffic flows in and out of the state park and the marinas. US-67 traffic stops turn up outstanding warrants and possession charges throughout the year. Retail theft at Hillside Village and family violence calls in the residential neighborhoods off Belt Line Road and Mansfield Road account for much of the remainder.

What is an indemnitor?

An indemnitor is the person who signs the bail bond agreement on the defendant’s behalf, often called the co-signer. The indemnitor promises the bail bond company that the defendant will attend every court date and agrees to be responsible for the full bond amount if the defendant fails to appear and cannot be located. Most Cedar Hill bonds are signed by a parent, spouse or sibling. Our How Bail Bonds Work page explains the indemnitor’s role in detail.

Which Jail Will Someone Arrested in Cedar Hill Be Taken To?

A person arrested by the Cedar Hill Police Department is taken to the Tri-City Regional Jail, 714 E. Belt Line Rd., DeSoto, TX 75115, phone 469-658-3081, and the bond is posted with Dallas County at the Lew Sterrett Justice Center, 111 W. Commerce St., Dallas, TX 75202. The Tri-City Jail is a regional holding facility operated jointly for Cedar Hill, DeSoto, Lancaster and Duncanville, as described on the City of DeSoto Tri-City Jail bond clerk page. The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office publishes an inmate search for people who have been transferred downtown.

Because a small part of Cedar Hill lies in Ellis County, the county that owns the case depends on where the arrest occurred:

The path from arrest to release usually runs like this:

  • Arrest by Cedar Hill police. The Cedar Hill Police Department, headquartered at the Government Center on Uptown Boulevard, makes the arrest and completes its paperwork. Officers then transport the person to DeSoto.
  • Booking at the Tri-City Jail. Booking at 714 E. Belt Line Rd. covers fingerprints, photographs, property and a statewide warrant check. Release cannot happen until booking is complete.
  • Magistration. A magistrate reviews the charge and the Public Safety Report and sets the bond amount and conditions. Texas requires this within 48 hours, and at Tri-City it usually happens within a day of booking.
  • Bond posting. Class C bonds can be paid at the jail itself. For every other charge, the bond must be posted at the county jail, so our agent files the surety bond at the 24-hour Dallas County bond desk at 111 W. Commerce St. and notifies Tri-City.
  • Release from Tri-City or transfer. Once Tri-City confirms the bond, it releases the person from DeSoto. A defendant who is not bonded out is eventually transferred to Lew Sterrett, where intake takes considerably longer.
  • Ellis County exception. If the arrest occurred in the Ellis County portion of Cedar Hill, the case belongs to Ellis County and the person is moved to Waxahachie for magistration. A Way Out is licensed in Dallas and Tarrant counties only, so for an Ellis County booking we confirm the facility, explain the process and connect you with a licensed resource there.

Call us before you call the jail; we can tell you within minutes where your family member is and whether a bond amount has been set.

Class C Charges and the Cedar Hill Municipal Court

Fine-only Class C cases, including traffic citations and city ordinance violations, are handled by the Cedar Hill Municipal Court at the Cedar Hill Government Center, 285 Uptown Blvd., Cedar Hill, TX 75104, phone 972-291-5100, during weekday business hours. The court offers an online warrant lookup on the City of Cedar Hill website. Class C warrants from Cedar Hill can be bonded at the Tri-City Jail bond clerk’s office, and we can explain whether a surety bond or a scheduled appearance is the better route for your situation.

Bail Bond Services We Offer in Cedar Hill

Our Cedar Hill service covers every charge that comes through the Tri-City Jail and the Dallas County courts.

Felony Bail Bonds in Cedar Hill

Felony cases from Cedar Hill are heard by the Dallas County Criminal District Courts at the Frank Crowley Courts Building, 133 N. Riverfront Blvd., Dallas, TX 75207. We post bonds for aggravated assault, drug possession, burglary, unlawful carrying of a weapon and felony DWI, including bonds that call for collateral or more than one indemnitor. Our Types of Bail Bonds page explains how felony bonds differ.

Misdemeanor Bail Bonds in Cedar Hill

Class A and B misdemeanors are the most common Cedar Hill bookings: first DWI, boating while intoxicated, possession of marijuana, assault causing bodily injury and theft from the Hillside Village stores. These bonds are set at magistration in DeSoto and can usually be posted the same day. Our criminal cases page covers what to expect.

DWI and DUI Bail Bonds in Cedar Hill

Cedar Hill DWI arrests concentrate on US-67 and FM 1382 on weekend evenings, particularly during lake season, and boating while intoxicated on Joe Pool Lake carries the same Class B classification as a first DWI. Magistrates often add an ignition interlock condition, which we explain before release. See our DWI and DUI bail bonds page.

Warrant Bail Bonds in Cedar Hill

Many Cedar Hill warrant arrests happen during traffic stops on US-67 when an old Dallas County warrant appears in the officer’s system. We post bonds on existing warrants and can arrange a walk-through surrender so the person is booked and bonded in one visit instead of being taken into custody unexpectedly.

Traffic and Class C Bonds in Cedar Hill

Cedar Hill Municipal Court traffic warrants are Class C matters that can often be cleared through the Tri-City bond clerk. We check the warrant, explain the court’s rules and post a bond where permitted. Our traffic ticket bail bonds page has more.

How the Bail Process Works in Cedar Hill

Getting someone released from the Tri-City Jail takes six steps, and the first is a call to our office.

  • Call 214-760-9978. Give us the person’s full name and date of birth, where in Cedar Hill the arrest happened and the charge if you know it. Our phone is answered live around the clock.
  • We confirm custody and the bond amount. We check the Tri-City and Dallas County systems. If magistration has not yet occurred, we tell you when to expect it and prepare the paperwork in advance.
  • Indemnitor paperwork. The co-signer signs the bond agreement and provides identification. Most of this is done by phone, fax or email, and a mobile agent can meet you in Cedar Hill or at the Tri-City Jail if you would rather sign in person.
  • We post the bond. Our agent files the surety bond at the Dallas County bond desk inside the Lew Sterrett Justice Center and sends confirmation to Tri-City.
  • Release. Tri-City generally processes a release within a few hours of receiving the bond, faster on weekday afternoons and slower on busy weekend nights. No bondsman can promise an exact time, but we follow up with the jail until it is done.
  • Court date follow-up. We give the defendant and the indemnitor every court date and remind them ahead of each one so the bond stays in good standing.

Texas bail law changed in two important ways recently. Senate Bill 6, the Damon Allen Act, took effect in December 2021 and requires magistration within 48 hours of arrest, a Public Safety Report before bail is set, and no personal recognizance bond for certain violent offenses. Then on November 4, 2025, voters approved Proposition 3, which permits a judge to deny bail entirely in defined violent and sexual felony cases when the state establishes its grounds by clear and convincing evidence. Most Cedar Hill arrests are misdemeanors and lower-level felonies that are unaffected by Proposition 3, and a surety bond remains available. The Texas Justice Court Training Center bail page explains both measures.

Affordable Bail Bonds in Cedar Hill: Payment Options

Affordability at A Way Out Bail Bonds means paying the bondsman’s fee on terms your household can manage rather than paying the full bail amount to Dallas County.

  • Installment plans. Many bonds can be paid over time so release does not wait on one large payment.
  • Low down payment options. Approved indemnitors can often begin with a smaller initial payment.
  • No credit check. We evaluate the charge, the defendant’s record and the indemnitor’s stability, not a credit score.
  • Shared co-signers. Two or more relatives can sign together and divide the responsibility.
  • Collateral only when required. Most misdemeanor bonds require none. When a felony bond does, we explain what qualifies and how it is returned.
  • Many ways to pay. Major credit cards, American Express, Western Union, personal checks, cash in some situations and payment at the jail.
  • Clear written terms. Every fee and condition is on paper before you sign.

Our bail payment options page describes each of these. If cost is holding you back, call anyway; the conversation is free.

Local Knowledge: Cedar Hill Courts, Districts and Rules

Cedar Hill’s arrest geography follows its two main draws: the lake and US-67. Cedar Hill State Park and the Joe Pool Lake shoreline along FM 1382 produce boating while intoxicated, public intoxication and DWI arrests from Memorial Day through Labor Day, with Texas Parks and Wildlife game wardens and Cedar Hill officers both making stops. The US-67 corridor from the Duncanville line south to the Ellis County line is the primary DWI and warrant enforcement zone. Hillside Village at US-67 and Pleasant Run Road generates retail theft cases, and the older neighborhoods east of US-67 around Belt Line Road and Cedar Street see most of the family violence calls. Country Day on the Hill, the city’s fall festival in the historic downtown, and summer events at Valley Ridge Park bring occasional crowd-related arrests.

Court matters for Cedar Hill arrests split by charge level:

  • Class C (fine-only): Cedar Hill Municipal Court, 285 Uptown Blvd., Cedar Hill, TX 75104, 972-291-5100.
  • Class A and B misdemeanors: Dallas County Criminal Courts, Frank Crowley Courts Building, 133 N. Riverfront Blvd., Dallas, TX 75207.
  • Felonies: Dallas County Criminal District Courts, also at the Frank Crowley Courts Building.
  • Ellis County arrests: Ellis County courts in Waxahachie, with the jail at 300 S. Jackson St.

The process quirk that surprises Cedar Hill families is the split between the jail and the bond desk. The person is physically in DeSoto at 714 E. Belt Line Rd., and Class C bonds are paid right there at the Tri-City bond clerk’s office, but any Class B or higher bond has to be filed 17 miles away at the Dallas County bond desk downtown. Families who drive to DeSoto with money in hand for a DWI bond are sent away. We file at the correct desk the first time.

Response Time to Cedar Hill

Our office at 633 W. Division St., Suite A, Arlington, TX 76011 is about a 30 to 35 minute drive from the Tri-City Jail in DeSoto via I-20 in normal traffic, and about 25 minutes from the Dallas County bond desk at 111 W. Commerce St. via I-30. Since Cedar Hill bonds are filed at that desk, where our agents work every day, and paperwork is completed by phone, fax or email, the drive rarely slows a release. A mobile agent can meet you in Cedar Hill or DeSoto if you prefer to sign in person. Drive times are approximate and depend on traffic.

Frequently Asked Questions About Cedar Hill Bail Bonds

Where are people arrested in Cedar Hill held?

People arrested by Cedar Hill police are held at the Tri-City Regional Jail, 714 E. Belt Line Rd., DeSoto, TX 75115, phone 469-658-3081. Cedar Hill does not operate a jail of its own; it shares the Tri-City facility with DeSoto, Lancaster and Duncanville. If no bond is posted, the person is later transferred to the Dallas County Jail downtown. Call us and we will confirm which facility is holding your family member.

Can you bond someone arrested at Joe Pool Lake?

Yes, if the arrest happened in the Dallas County portion of the lake, which includes Cedar Hill State Park and the Cedar Hill shoreline. Game wardens and Cedar Hill officers book those arrests at the Tri-City Jail, and we post the bond with Dallas County. Parts of Joe Pool Lake lie in Tarrant County, where we are also licensed, so a lake arrest booked in Grand Prairie or Fort Worth is covered as well.

How do I check a Dallas County inmate’s bond amount?

The quickest way is to call us at 214-760-9978 and let us look it up. The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office inmate search shows the charge and bond amount once magistration has taken place, and Tri-City staff can tell you whether someone is still in DeSoto. If no bond amount appears yet, the person has not been magistrated, and we will tell you when to expect it.

What happens to the co-signer if the defendant skips court?

The indemnitor becomes responsible for the full bond amount if the defendant misses court and cannot be found. Before that point, we work with the indemnitor to locate the defendant and arrange a voluntary appearance, which often leads the court to reinstate the bond. Staying in contact with us and with the defendant is the best protection a co-signer has.

Is Spanish-language help available for Cedar Hill families?

Yes. Se habla espanol. Our bilingual agents explain the charge, the bond amount, the payment terms and the indemnitor’s obligations in Spanish, and paperwork can be reviewed in Spanish before anyone signs.

Can bail be denied for a Cedar Hill arrest?

For most charges, no. Proposition 3, approved by Texas voters in November 2025, allows judges to deny bail only in specific violent and sexual felony cases when the state meets a clear and convincing evidence standard. The typical Cedar Hill DWI, possession or theft arrest is not affected, and bail is set at magistration in the usual way. If bail is denied, the defense attorney can request a hearing.

What should I have ready when I call?

Have the defendant’s full legal name and date of birth, the approximate time and place of the arrest, and the charge if you know it. The indemnitor will need a government-issued photo ID and proof of address and employment. You do not need the bond amount; we find that for you. Having these items ready lets us start paperwork during the first call.

Do you post bonds on weekends and holidays for Tri-City?

Yes. Our office answers 24 hours a day every day of the year, and the Dallas County bond desk never closes, so a Saturday night arrest in Cedar Hill does not have to wait until Monday. Release may take longer on busy weekend nights because of booking volume at Tri-City, but the bond itself can be posted as soon as a magistrate sets the amount.
